Restoration Hope Disaster Relief

HISTORY

___________________

Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) of Memphis, TN has a long history of helping those in need when DISASTER strikes. Formerly, our initial response focused a heavy investment during the “1stWave” of 30 days providing emergency food, clothing and shelter. Often joining hands with the Red Cross, Samaritan Purse and other Disaster Relief Agencies. However, our Pastor & Session have revised our future objective to NOW invest the lion’s share of human + financial resources into the “2nd Wave” of POST 30 DISASTER to ensure that displaced victims can return to structurally sound and renovated properties. This new restorative emphasis will also coordinate with other networks of influence.

OUR METHODS

_____________________

While still investing 20% of resources to 1st Wave efforts, the 2nd Wave will involve “gap” funding & more skilled labor. Sort of like the ratio of volunteers-to-skilled professionals used in the Habitat for Humanity model.

• Through local church connections, approximately 55% of the folk we assist will be Jesus-Followers & church members who have been displaced.

• The other 45% would be to the unchurched, de-churched and religiously unaffiliated.

• RHDR will provide the administrative oversight but be conscious to allow the local entities to lead the charge, if they have capacity.
